Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Animal Vision (“we”, “us”) for the Animal Vision mobile app and the website animalvision.app. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

Licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Animal Vision on devices you own or control, in line with the usage rules of the store you installed it from. On iOS and iPadOS this licence is granted on the terms of Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, as supplemented by the terms on this page; where the two conflict, these terms prevail to the extent Apple permits. You may not copy, sell, rent, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app except where that restriction is prohibited by law.

Purchases and unlocks

Animal Vision is free to download and includes a set of free species. Additional species can be unlocked in three ways:

• Premium — a single, one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks every species, including species added in future updates, permanently.
• A single animal — a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks that one species permanently.
• A rewarded ad — watching one optional rewarded video unlocks one species for 24 hours. This unlock is temporary by design, expires automatically, and can be renewed by watching another ad. It is not a purchase and gives you no permanent rights.

There are no subscriptions and nothing renews automatically. Prices are shown by the store in your local currency before you confirm, and are charged by Apple or Google, never by us. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account or Google Account, and the app provides a Restore purchases action so you can recover them on a new device or after reinstalling.

Refunds

All payments are processed by the store you bought from. Refund requests are therefore handled by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play under their own policies. We cannot issue refunds directly, but write to us and we will help where we can. Statutory withdrawal rights, where they apply to you, are unaffected.

Advertising

Rewarded ads are optional: they only ever play when you choose to watch one. They are served by Google AdMob. The app requests non-personalized ads only and, on iOS, does not ask for tracking permission and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). Where required, Google's consent form lets you review and change your ad choices, and the app exposes that form again from Settings.

Scientific accuracy and intended use

Animal Vision renders scientifically informed approximations of animal vision, based on published, peer-reviewed research that is cited inside the app. A phone screen emits only red, green and blue light, so ultraviolet, infrared and polarized vision can be suggested but never truly reproduced. The app is provided for education and curiosity. It is not a scientific instrument and is not a medical, veterinary, diagnostic or safety device, and must not be relied on as one.

Your content

Photos you pick and snapshots you capture stay on your device; they are processed locally and never uploaded to us. You keep all rights to them. If you share a generated image, you are responsible for where you share it and for having the right to the underlying photo.

Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully. Do not use it to harass, film or record people without their consent where consent is required, and respect local rules about photography.

Intellectual property

The app, its name, artwork, written science content and code are ours or our licensors'. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership to you.

Availability and changes

We may update, change or discontinue features. Species already unlocked by a purchase remain unlocked in the versions of the app that support them. We may update these terms; the current version always lives at this URL with its date.

Warranties and liability

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, and nothing here affects the mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal-compliance or intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
